How To Change Virgin Media WiFi Password

How To Change Virgin Media WiFi Password

Knowing how to change your Virgin Media WiFi password is important especially if you are worried that someone is using your WiFi connection.

Generally, changing your password regularly is a good idea to ensure that your network is secure and safe.

Remember that when you change your password, you should avoid sharing it with everyone, as doing so will increase the risk of unauthorized network usage.

This brief guide will outline all the steps required to change the WiFi password of your Virgin Media.

Steps For Changing Virgin Media WiFi Password

The guidelines provided here are for Virgin Media Hub 3, Hub 4, and Hub 5 routers. If you have an earlier Super Hub model, please be aware that the instructions might differ.

In such cases, reach out to Virgin for assistance.

1. Access the Router Settings

Begin by accessing the settings of your Virgin Media router. You can do this by:

  • Entering http://192.168.0.1 into a web browser;
  • Then typing your Virgin Media login credentials when prompted.

If you do not know the admin password required for this process, you may have to gain access to the Virgin router settings by locating the password on a label located on the bottom of the router.

2. Open the Advanced Settings

To change your WiFi password, select Advanced Settings from the menu on the left-hand side, then navigate to Wireless, and finally Security.

3. Change the Password

Now you will see a screen with the option of changing the WiFi password.

If you have both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands activated, you can assign distinct passwords to each band. However, to make the process simpler and easy, make both passwords similar.

Simply access the password field and enter a new password.

It is important to remember that the security measures of Virgin require your password to be not less than 10 characters in length, comprising at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and a number.

Consider using a strong password generator for password ideas. To complete this step, click on ‘Apply Changes,’ located at the bottom of the screen.

4. Log In Again

After clicking the ‘Apply Changes’ button, you will need to log in again on all devices that were previously connected via WiFi. This includes the computer you used to change the password, using the new password.

If you do not have a computer with you, you can use the Virgin Media Connect app for Android/iPhone to change the password.
