Juniper Training: Free Network Engineer Resources

Table of Contents

free network engineer trainingWhat do you think about when you think about learning new networking technologies or even learning to become a Network Engineer?   Most people will no doubt say they think Cisco is the answer.

But learning about networking and network engineering doesn’t have to involve Cisco at all.  There are a lot of resources available to learn networking and Juniper Networks provides some of the best.

Juniper Networks has done an incredible job of training network engineers too.  And best of all training with Juniper is free!   In today’s post we’re going to show you where you can find some of this great free training and how your can use this to boost your career while learning about Juniper routers and switches.

Getting Trained as a Network Engineer

Cisco  has done an amazing job of creating networking products for today’s modern networks and training engineers to install, troubleshoot and maintain that network equipment.  As the old saying goes “No one ever got fired for buying Cisco.”  (It used to be IBM but oh how the times have changed!).

The problem today is being able to afford this great training from Cisco.  A huge industry has sprung up around training Cisco engineers and it’s not cheap.  Books, classes and videos all come at a premium with the lure of an incredible return on that educational investment.

Network Engineers aren’t REAL Engineers

The biggest farce to all of this engineering training is that none if it will make you a REAL engineer.   Most all Cisco courses are all geared toward a vendor certification and do not grant you a college degree. Only colleges can do that.  Though it’s arguable from an income point of view which one is better you.

What do you think about this article?

  1. Besides which happens to be down presently. arent there other online of offline simulators for juniper

  2. Very nicely written. As rightly said, Cisco is not the only provider of networking training, Juniper has well defined courses and nice study material backed by various certifications offered by Juniper.

  3. What a very well written advertisement for Juniper. Well done.

  4. Love these articles, Very informative. Keep up the good work

  5. Great article – although I am biased!

    Liz Burns,
Director – Juniper Networks Certification Program

  6. Good stuff, I worked for Juniper Networks for 6 years and it’s a great company with good products.
Juniper Networks engineers are in high demand and there’s skill shortage. Think about it!

  7. Juniper is having very good product line Then Cisco, Juniper Knowledge will give you advantage in your resume.

  8. hi this is very helpful.. i'm so motivated to continue cisco

  9. As someone who's both Cisco and Juniper certified, I have to say that you're not exactly correct in this post. While Juniper does offer a ton of free training materials, they are all based on someone having a strong previous knowledge of IOS. They do some free one-day bootcamps from time to time (I just love their marketing department) and the first thing you are given is an IOS to Junos cheat sheet (a good one is here: ). Why do you think they have "Junos as a SECOND language"? Trying to train a new engineer on Junos without any previous knowledge in IOS was a nightmare, so we just ended up sending him to a CCNA bootcamp to get him up to speed. You won't find anything in Juniper's training that will give you the basics like Cisco will (subnetting and the like). You're supposed to have a CCNA, or CCNA knowledge, before you get started in it.

  10. Thanks for the very informative article you have here in your site. I found them very useful for my plan to have CCNA training this year.

  11. Thanks for your very inspiring article. I am planning to have a CCNA training this year. The information I found in your site are very useful.
